I lost my mother

I received a call from Anandam which informed me that my mother is no more. It was a shock.
Several reasons appeared in my mind. Ultimately I found that I am the reason behind the death of my mother. My confusion in coming to a conclusion, in taking a decusion led to this incident

Where did the tax dues go

An anti corruption bureau raid on a cooperative department official's residence yeilded more than Rs 40 Crore. A similar raid on a deputy collector revealed accumulated wealth that would put Kubera to shame. Last year the Union Government stated that Hasan Ali Khan, stud farm owner, topped the list of tax defaulters with outstanding arrears of more than Rs.50.000 thousand crore. The tax due after adding interest for belated payment of tax would exceed Rs.70.000 crore. This amount added to his money laundering activities would add up to a staggering Rs.100.000 Crore. Yet, the tax dues, of all levies, to the Government of India stated in this years budget total a mere Rs.117065 crorre.Where did the Rs.100.000 crore due from Hasan ali and his associates disappear.
The Finance Minister has said that the government did recover the tax dues from Hasan ali. How ever the revised estimates for 2010-2011 do not reflect this Rs.100.000 is too large a sum to be last even in the government of India's budget. A mear stud farm owner could not have aggregated such huge funds. The manner in which the government is going soft on them suggests that he may have been the conduit for political bigwigs.

music for the head

I felt glad that at last Bharadwaj Rangan has understood that the music of A R Rahaman is for the head and not for the heart after listening to his recent album Ravana. Rahaman is undoubtedly a highly over- rated music composer of recent times. The aquisition of OSCAR made the Indian and the world press go further mad in showering encomiums on him and his absolutely synthetic music. In the numerous music shows which are conducted by television channels, witness and hear the new crop of aspiring singers sing songs only from old films and not from Rahaman's numbers as they are highly meandering' manipulated, convoluted and impossible scores.
His initial forays in computerisastion of music and maneuvering of voices might have been novel for music aficinodos. But as days passed, he could hardly compose any simple or straight tune with malody or harmony. All his songs were outright noise in the most chaotic, cluttered and unconventional manner. The youth of India found it enlightening as they always fancy anything flavoured with western influence and the critics are too different to comment on him. The winning of OSCAR for the most unoriginal and insipid score, he attained the status of God. Reffering him as a MOZART OF MADRAS is nothing but a great affront piled on the legendery composer.

The fate of open Universities

Graduates of open universities/correspondence courses are being rejected by central universities, as has been recently by a central university in Jharkhand. If these universities donot recognize the distance mode courses even from I G N O U, why is the government offering such courses? This is befooling the students after wasting their time, money and labour. On the other hand the government is inviting foreign universities to set up teaching shops in India. If the UGC does not recognise the open universities set up by the government, what is point of setting up such teaching shops.

Getting rid of Sheshadri

It is deplorable that the Tirumala Thirupathi Devasthanam Excutive Officer I Y R Krishnarao has not yet served the termination orders on P. Sheshadri inspite of the clear order by the High Court to do so.This is apparently because Sheshadri is out of town. As per rules, an order of termination has to be sent at the earliest by registered post, and if it is not deliverable, the next step is to paste the termination order on the door of the employees house. Copies of the termination orders also be sent by ordinary post by certificate of posting and delivery and receipt of such letter is deemed as the receipt of orders. The lax attitude on the part of the excutive officer may amount to contemt of court.

Good marks for Maoists

Maoists should be commended atleast on one count. They compelled the Government to focus sincerely and honestly on development of the backward areas in the country. As a staunch opponent of voilence, I can not agree to this but at the same time considering long years of political apathy towards rural and remote areas and sudden political desperation of development in these areas, I could not disagree either.

Ministry that lost the credibility

The recent mud slinging on each other with in the ruling congress party is not surprising. The party became rotten and the leaders are emanating stench. Kavuri Sambasivarao levelling allegations against a cabinent Minister equating him with Madhu Kada, Icon of corruption, has not shaken any body's confidence. Because the Gorvernment is full of corrupt rogue and gooda elements and also of land grabbers.People are simply feeling as if it is their fate cursing the non existing Almighty.
